When it comes to your smartphone, you probably don’t think too much about security. Many people do not consider the security of their phones until it is too late: their phone is stolen, and suddenly, they have a lot of damage to try to undo. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to protect the sensitive data on your phone from hackers and scammers.
Password protect everything
If someone does get their hands on your smartphone, the best protection you can have in place is a password. If you do not have a password on your phone, it gives thieves instant access to any information you have on there. When you utilize a password, it eliminates the lowest common denominator of criminals; only someone who is really determined to get into your phone will if you have a password in place. Additionally, some smartphones allow you to use a fingerprint scanner to protect your phone. If you have this option, go for it for added security.
Install a tracker app
If your smartphone is stolen, it is much easier to recover if you have some sort of tracking app on your phone. If you have an iPhone, you can use the Find My iPhone app to determine where your phone is, and potentially track down the thieves.
